The Armenian Spiritual Revival Foundation pursues a global mission of creating innovative ‘psycho-spiritual’ healing and empowerment solutions, rooted in the historical experiences, spiritual values, and most advanced methods in modern psychology for delivery in post-conflict and post-crisis contexts. This is grounded in the vision and belief that, in particular, the invincible spirit of the Armenian people, who have endured the storms of history with unwavering resilience over long centuries, is the missing element of a unique psycho-spiritual empowerment journey to revive from traumas caused by war and its consequences.
Launched following the 44-day war of 2020 in Nagorno Karabakh (South Caucasus) that brought catastrophic consequences for the Armenian people, the Spiritual Revival Foundation adopted the local mission in Armenia and Artsakh to "... enable psycho-spiritual revival through combining state-of-the-art methods in psychological counseling with the Armenian survivalist experience and the traditions of the Armenian Church".
The Armenian Spiritual Revival Foundation was established by the vision of the Armenian-American entrepreneur, innovator and philanthropist Dr Noubar Afeyan with the blessings of His Holiness Karekin II, the Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians.
The Foundation develops and implements ‘psycho-spiritual’ support projects that help individuals to stand on a journey of personal growth, make steps towards spiritual and psychological revival, strive by leaning on their roots and aid others in the spirit of mutual care and spiritual values. These projects assist people to re-discover their personal agency and re-emerge as the true authors of their own lives.
Over the past two years the Foundation has developed evidence-based innovative methods that pave the way towards post-traumatic revival by assisting people in recovering from their experienced mental health challenges associated with post-war and post-crises environments.
From Vision to Practice: The Story Behind the First Psycho-Spiritual Programs
The Spiritual Revival Foundation's flagship project, labeled "Armenian Revival Journey", offers a three-month group-based engagement where participants, based on preliminary online screening, can benefit one or all of the three-step psycho-spiritual revival program.
The thorough evaluation of multiple rounds of group work with individuals experiencing moderate to severe war-driven acute PTSD has revealed that connecting with both personal and collective experiences helps reframing challenges. Rather than viewing them as insurmountable obstacles, individuals begin to perceive them as part of a larger, ongoing narrative—one that has already endured struggles and celebrated triumphs. From this broader perspective, strength and agency are drawn. Moreover, the embrace of spirituality and core values—understood as guiding principles—supports individuals on their path toward a meaningful, purpose-driven life, ultimately fostering both personal and collective healing and revival.
At present stage, the main focus of Spiritual Revival Foundation projects is in Armenia. Potential beneficiaries with a command in Armenian residing outside of Armenia can fill in the anonymous test to self-evaluate their mental health state today, and, if need be, answer a 5-minute questionnaire to book their spot in the next group session online.
For non-Armenian-speaking audiences, presently there are two ways how this ‘psycho-spiritual method’ can be borrowed: by joining online and on-site practitioner trainings, or jointly working with adapting this innovative method to that of a particular international setting. For either option, or exploring more options, reach out with the below feedback form.
